Can your spouse work after family reunification?
Work access depends on the legal basis of family reunification. Start with the nationality and residence status of the person already in Switzerland, then establish which authorisation the accompanying spouse receives. The letter printed on a permit is only part of that assessment.

When EU/EFTA free movement applies
SEM states that spouses and children admitted through family reunification with an EU/EFTA national are entitled to work regardless of their own nationality. The family-reunification conditions still have to be met, including suitable housing. For example, a non-EU spouse joining an EU worker should establish this family route when explaining work eligibility to an employer.
Distinguish the other sponsor statuses
For family reunification under Swiss foreign-national law, joining a Swiss citizen or a B or C holder generally gives the admitted spouse access to employment. Family members joining a third-country L holder require separate attention: employment requires an employer application and compliance with pay, working-condition and personal qualification requirements. The canton should confirm your precise route and the steps before employment begins.
Make the answer usable in recruitment
Keep the residence decision, permit validity and any written cantonal confirmation together. Ask whether an employer must submit an application or notification and what evidence HR should retain. Regulated professions may also require recognition or professional authorisation. If the family permit changes or expires, review the work basis again. State your actual status and realistic availability in applications; resolve outstanding administrative steps before promising a starting date.
